The transition away from totalitarianism and a centrally planned
economy toward rule of law and a free market in Russia is resulting
in fundamental shifts in social, cultural, and political values.
This symposium will address how the legal, political, economic,
and social forces of the transition are influenced by and are shaping
crime, law, and justice in the country. In conjunction with a book
he is editing on these issues, current Davis Center Post-Doctoral
Fellow Dr. William Pridemore is hosting this symposium by bringing
together leading scholars from six nations to present papers on
a wide range of topics. Admission is free and open to the public.
