Graduate Student Associate
Zulfiyya Abdurahimova Carberry grew up in the mountain village of Orta Zeyzid in northwestern Azerbaijan. She moved to the capital city of Baku to complete a degree in European Studies before going abroad to Germany for a master's in political science. She is now a Ph.D. candidate at the Heinrich-Heine University in Duesseldorf, Germany, and is working on a dissertation under the direction of Prof. Dr. Thomas Poguntke comparing the democracy promotion policies of the US and the EU in Azerbaijan. Zulfiyya has been a Visiting Fellow at the Davis Center and at the Government Department and has held teaching and research assistantships at the Kennedy School and the Extension School.
