Idrit Idrizi is a historian of the communist Balkans and the global Cold War. His doctoral thesis on communist rule and everyday life in Albania “Herrschaft und Alltag im albanischen Spätsozialismus (1976–1985)” was published by De Gruyter Oldenbourg in 2018 and has won three prizes. His second book project approaches the Balkan maverick paths during the Cold War from a comparative, transnational and regional and global perspective, examining the communist elites' thinking in close connection to the circulation of ideas across and beyond the region.
