Gregory Feifer is executive director of the Institute of Current World Affairs in Washington. A former Moscow correspondent for National Public Radio who spent a decade living in Russia and reporting across the former Soviet Union, he is author of Russians: The People Behind the Power, The Great Gamble: A History of the Soviet War in Afghanistan, and Spy Handler, with former KGB Colonel Victor Cherkashin. He has written for numerous publications, including The New York Times, Foreign Affairs and The Atlantic, and is currently working on a biography of the Russian politician Boris Nemtsov.
