Mzia Shanava is a linguist, journalist, and educator. She studied Georgian Language and Classical humanities at Ivane Javakhishvili University in Tbilisi, Georgia. She led courses of Georgian and Classical languages, worked at the Academy of Science of Georgia, was a TV journalist, and covered culture and science at Georgian National Television. After immigrating to the US, she worked as a Georgian translator for the Department of Justice and as a Georgian Instructor for the Department of Defense where she taught Georgian Language to the Diplomatic Corps and developed course of Modern Georgian Language. Her extensive communication skills (varying capabilities in seven languages) and cultural background enables her to accurately analyze and evaluate socio-political events in throughout the world and especially in Georgia, Russia, and Eastern Europe.
