Ryan Schweitzer is an MTS candidate at Harvard Divinity School, focusing on Islam and identity in Central Asia. Previously, Ryan graduated from Columbia University and the OSCE Academy in Bishkek where he studied civil society in the Ferghana Valley. Ryan was a Fulbright researcher in Uzbekistan and speaks Uzbek. Ryan has traveled and conducted research throughout Central Asia, publishing works with The Diplomat, Oxus Society, Springer, and Barnes and Noble. His research interests include civil society, nationalism, sexuality, and identity in Central Asia, particularly Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
