Vanessa Ruget is Professor of Political Science at Salem State University. In the past, she taught political science at the American University – Central Asia and at the OSCE Academy in Bishkek (both located in Kyrgyzstan) as well as in France and in Kosovo. At Salem State University, she teaches a range of courses in comparative politics, with a focus on development, democratization, and migration. Her research focuses on citizenship and migration. It has appeared in Problems of Post-Communism, Citizenship Studies, Communist and Post-Communist Studies, Central Asian Survey and the Nationalities Papers. In 2017, she was awarded a Fulbright Flex Research Award to Kyrgyzstan. Vanessa is former president of the Northeastern Political Science Association and co-chair of its comparative politics section.
