In October 1956, a mass uprising erupted against Hungary's Stalinist regime. The revolution was crushed by a large-scale Soviet invasion in early November 1956. Nowadays, seventy years later, we know a great deal more about how and why the revolution occurred and how it came to an end. This seminar will give a review of the research that has been under way in Hungary over the past 35 years
