We often think of maps as representations of lands measured and explored, to be crossed or conquered. Yet the world of cartography also contains treasures that reveal the high seas, with their dangerous shores and prosperous harbors. Join us to explore a magnificent Atlas of the Black Sea produced in the 1840s. Learn what these maritime maps contain, how ship captains saw their world, and what digital historians can build with the knowledge they produced.
