Bakhtiyor Islamov, Uzbekistan's former deputy minister of foreign affairs and former ambassador to Russia and Belarus, will trace the evolution of Uzbek-Russian relations from the dissolution of the Soviet Union to the present. Drawing on his extensive experience in diplomacy and economics, Prof. Islamov will offer first-hand insights into the political and economic dynamics that have shaped bilateral ties, highlighting the personalities, policies, and shifting regional context that have defined the bilateral relationship. The talk will also examine how China’s emergence as the leading economic actor in Central Asia has influenced the trajectory of Uzbek-Russian relations.
