Alexander Golts is an analyst at the Stockholm Center for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs. In 1978, Golts received an M.A. in journalism from Moscow State University's Department of Journalism. From 1980 until 1996, he worked at the editorial board of the military newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda ("Red Star"), in 1996-2001 as a military editor for the weekly Itogi magazine, and in 2001-2004 as deputy editor-in-chief at the Yezhenedelny Zhurnal weekly. In 2005-2022, he was deputy editor-in-chief for the website EJ.ru. Golts has also been a visiting fellow at Stanford University's Center for International Security and Cooperation (CISAC), Uppsala University, and the Kennan Institute in Washington.
