Ananth Krishnan is the China Correspondent for The Hindu newspaper and is currently based in Hong Kong. He is a former Visiting Fellow at Brookings India (2018-19) and an AsiaGlobal Fellow at the University of Hong Kong (2019). He was previously India Today's China Bureau Chief in Beijing and before that the Beijing Correspondent for The Hindu, and has reported from China for close to a decade. He is the author of "India's China Challenge: A Journey Through China's Rise and What It Means for India", published by HarperCollins in September 2020. His reporting has focused on India-China relations, China's diplomacy, and ethnic minorities in China, and has taken him to all but three of China's provinces and regions. Before moving to China, Ananth reported for The Hindu from Chennai and Mumbai, focusing on political news.
