Anna Rakityanskaya is the Librarian for Russian and Belarusian Studies at Harvard Library, a digital archivist and a scholar, with degrees in Slavic anthropological linguistics and library and information science. Her scholarly interests focus on issues in archival preservation of ephemeral and non-traditional primary sources from Russia, Belarus and Ukraine in physical and born-digital formats. She also studies the effects of political events in Belarus on social media and book publishing both inside and outside its borders. Her current research explores using generative AI to preserve the semantic integrity of Russo-Ukrainian War memes. Her latest article “Belarusian Publishing in Europe: Post-2020 Trends and Implications for Library Collections” appeared in Slavic & East European Information Resources in May 2025.
