Dr. McCarthy is University Distinguished Professor Emeritus and McKim-D'Amore Distinguished Professor at Northeastern University and a Davis Center Associate for about 2 decades. He has over 130 mostly co-authored publications including the books: 4 editions of Business Policy and Strategy, Business and Management in RussiaThe Russian Capitalist Experiment, Corporate Governance in Russia, and the award-winning Hammer & Silicon: The Soviet Diaspora in the US Innovation Economy (with Sheila Puffer and Daniel Satinsky, Cambridge University Press, 2018). His over 100 articles have been published in leading business journals such as The Academy of Management Review, The Journal of World Business and The Strategic Management Journal. In the business world, McCarthy was co-founder of 2 small hi-tech companies in the 1970s and served on the Boards of a number of nonprofit and for-profit companies including 29 years at the NYSE-listed Clean Harbors Inc where he was the inaugural Lead Director for the last 9 years concluding in 2016. Daniel McCarthy earned his AB at Dartmouth College, his MBA at Dartmouth's Amos Tuck School and his DBA at Harvard Business School.
