Eugene Ostashevsky is a prolific poet and translator who joins his native Russian culture, his deep training in intellectual and cultural history, and his dazzling knowledge of European and American cultures. He has translated the poets of OBERIU, Maria Stepanova, Daria Serenko, Arkady Dragomoshchenko, Osip Mandelstam, and others. His books include The Pirate Who Does Not Know the Value of Pi (2017) and The Feeling Sonnets (2022), from which he will read for his Davis Center seminar.
