Görkem Aydemir-Kundakcı is an anthropologist whose research examines long-term displacement, conflict, environment, and economic and climate-related precarity in Georgia’s de facto borderland with Abkhazia. Her work combines multimodal and sensory ethnographic methods to trace how overlapping crises take shape in everyday life. She holds a Ph.D. from George Washington University and has held postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Calgary and KU Leuven. Her writing has appeared in journals such as Journal of Refugee Studies and History and Anthropology. Görkem is completing her first book based on her dissertation research, and developing new research on agrarian futures, pest dynamics, and borderland livelihoods in the Black Sea region.
