Nurlan Kabdylkhak is a Ph.D. candidate in History at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. His research interests include social and cultural history of Central Asia. His dissertation explores the history of expansion and regulation of Muslim religious institutions on the Kazakh steppe under the Russian tsars. Nurlan is a 2023-24 Charlotte W. Newcombe Fellow.
