Thomas Barrett is a senior lecturer at the Kyiv School of Economics. He received his Ph.D. in the summer of 2026 from the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies. His research focuses on how macroeconomic transformation changes political preferences in Armenia, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. He has previously conducted research for the Centre for Eastern European and International Studies (ZOiS Berlin), the Institute for European Politics (Berlin) and the Bertelsmann Foundation. He was also a research fellow at Brusov University (Armenia). Thomas is proficient in Ukrainian, German and Russian.
