Postdoctoral Fellow in Social Anthropology, Higher School of Economics, St. Petersburg

My research and teaching interests focus on the nexus of ethics, contract and history: on how people claim customary use-rights through and despite modern property law, and how they mobilize popular narratives about the past to explain these regimes of power. Geographically, I work in Russia. My articles have appeared in The American Historical Review, Cahiers du Monde Russe, Environmental Humanities, Anthropology and Humanism, NLO, Ab Imperio, Sotstiologiia Vlasti. Several shorter essays are published in the Society for Cultural Anthropology’s editor-invited “Fieldsights” section.
