Inga Zakšauskienė, serving as chief archivist in Lithuania since April 2023, has sought to turn the Lithuanian archives “from document storage institutions into spaces for the dissemination of freedom ideas and the education of society.” Zakšauskienė will discuss what she has been able to do to further this mission, including expanding access to Lithuanian archives, enhancing digitization, strengthening international partnerships, and increasing their role in public and civic education about the origins, foundations, and achievements of modern Lithuania.
