Since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Black Sea has drawn sustained attention from scholars, policymakers, and practitioners concerned with peace and security in Europe. Yet many argue that a coherent Western strategy for the region remains a work in progress.
This seminar will focus on Georgia, asking how the country's security and economic interests are tied to the Black Sea, what role states with small navies can play in regional security, and how much coast guards matter. The seminar then turns to the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process and its implications for regional security, including the potential of the TRIPP for the Black Sea.
