The war in Ukraine has triggered a series of unprecedented sanctions on Russia that impact the economies of Kazakhstan and other Central Asian countries. This roundtable will shed light on the Russian economic presence in Kazakhstan prior to the war in Ukraine, assess the direct and indirect impact of sanctions on Kazakhstan in particular and on Central Asia in general, and outline threats, risks, and opportunities arising from the situation.
