The Davis Center is offering a two-part webinar series for educators, providing practical skills on incorporating primary sources into teaching. Using primary sources in the classroom allows students to engage directly with historical materials, fostering critical thinking and deeper understanding of the past.
Join us for an engaging 90-minute webinar Teaching with Maps, designed for educators who want to explore the powerful role of maps in teaching history. This session will highlight how maps—both historical and modern—can serve as dynamic tools for understanding and conveying the stories of the present and past.
You will discover strategies for integrating maps into your curriculum to help students analyze spatial relationships, geographic change, and cultural context, ultimately fostering critical thinking skills. Through practical examples and interactive discussions, we’ll explore how maps can deepen students’ understanding of key historical events, geographical shifts, and their broader implications.
Our second webinar in this series, Primary Source Analysis Using the OPCVL Method, will take place on May 22.
