Special Event

Address
Tsai Auditorium (S010), CGIS South, 1730 Cambridge Street

Join us for the second installment our new speaker series "Russia: In Search of a New Paradigm — Conversations With Yevgenia Albats" to hear economists Oleg Itskhoki and Sergei Guriev (via Zoom) speak with our eminent host about Russia's wartime economy.

What did the West get wrong about Putin's capacity to convert his nation's wealth into military might? Why have economic sanctions imposed by the U.S. and European Union had a marginal impact or, at least, not prevented Russia from manufacturing weaponry? What made possible Russia's economic growth and why have the state's huge military expenditures not caused discontent with the war within the country?

These are but some of the questions to be discussed in what promises to be an in-depth, informative conversation. Please look for other talks in the series in our Events listing.
