Andrey N. Petrov  is Distinguished Research Chair in Community Resilience and Sustainability, Professor of Geography and ARCTICenter Director at the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Petrov is an economic and social geographer who specializes in Arctic economy and sustainable development, with an emphasis on changing Arctic social-ecological systems and Indigenous communities in Alaska, Canada, and Russia. His current research is focused on sustainable regional and community development, spatial organization, and restructuring of Arctic economies amid rapid environmental change. He published ten books and edited collections and over 100 peer-reviewed articles. Dr. Petrov is past President of the International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA) and represents the U.S. in the International Arctic Science Committee (IASC). He also serves as the University of the Arctic Chair in Arctic Community and Social-Ecological Systems Sustainability.
