Artist; Veteran, U.S. Air Force

Baia Uridia is a Georgian-born multidisciplinary artist whose identity was shaped within a post-Soviet society marked by political turbulence, intellectual resilience, and a continuous fight for freedom. Raised by intelligent grandparents who immersed her in literature and critical thought, she developed a deep commitment to human rights, autonomy, and cultural expression.

Her academic background in philosophy and psychoanalysis profoundly informs her creative work, allowing her to approach art and calligraphy through questions of consciousness, symbolism, and the human condition. Baia’s primary visual genre, which she describes as “Cosmic Realism”, blends scientific imagery of galaxies, oceans, and natural structures with existential and metaphysical concepts, creating a dialogue between the physical universe and inner emotional landscapes.

She also works extensively with Georgian calligraphy, reinterpreting traditional scripts as contemporary artistic forms and philosophical modes of thought. Through this work, she explores letters as vessels of cultural memory, rhythm, and identity.

Now based in Boston and an honorable veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Baia brings discipline, cultural insight, and a global perspective to her artistic and educational practice.
