Brandon Schechter serves as Historian to the Blavatnik Archive and is currently a visiting Professor of History at Sarah Lawrence College. He has taught at Brown, Columbia, NYU, NYU-Shanghai, and UC Berkeley, where he received his Ph.D. His first book, The Stuff of Soldiers: A History of the Red Army in World War II Through Objects won the American Historical Association’s Paul Birdsall Prize in 2020. He is writing a monograph comparing US Army Chaplains and Red Army political workers in the Second World War and frequently writes short-form pieces to highlight and interpret the Blavatnik Archive’s holdings. Schechter has been a fellow at the Fulbright Institute of International Education, Harvard's Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies, the Kennan Institute, and the Library of Congress Kluge Center.
