Hélène Thibault is Associate professor in the department of Political Science at Nazarbayev University in Kazakhstan. Her research focuses on the study of religious identities, especially the growing importance of Islam within Central Asian societies since independence. Recent publications include co-edited volumes Uyat and the Culture of Shame in Central Asia (2022) and The Political Economy of Education Research in Central Asia (2024 open-access) at Palgrave.
