Julian Pokay received his Mag. phil. in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Vienna University in 2013. He also studied at the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia in St. Petersburg and the Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Before commencing his graduate study at Harvard in the spring of 2015, he worked in sound engineering and public relations in Vienna. He has primarily worked on topics relating to 19th- and 20-th century Russian and Polish literature; Leningrad poetry of the 1950s and 1960s; the Leningrad underground; sov-, tam-, and samizdat; émigré literature; Russian-Polish literary contacts.
