Kazushige Kobayashi is an associate professor at the College and Graduate School of International Relations at Ritsumeikan University in Kyoto, Japan. He is also a research associate at the Centre on Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding (CCDP) of the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland, and a research affiliate at the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES) of George Washington University. Kazushige received a Ph.D. in international relations and political science from the Geneva Graduate Institute in 2018. Previously, he studied at Tohoku University, the University of California at Davis, the UC Washington DC Center, and the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. Prior to joining Ritsumeikan in 2022, he worked with the International Rescue Committee in Washington DC, Columbia University’s Institute for the Study of Human Rights in New York, the Mitsubishi Research Institute in Tokyo, the Russian International Affairs Council in Moscow, and the Graduate Institute’s CCDP in Geneva. His most recent writings appeared in major academic journals such as International Studies Quarterly and Review of International Studies.
