Michael's debut feature film "Silver Skates" (2020) (aka "City of Ice") - was the first Russian-language Netflix Originals film. The movie was the Opening film at the Moscow Film Festival (2020). It won awards in the main categories of national festivals Golden Eagle, Nika and others - including Best Picture (2021), and was in the Top of Netflix in many territories.
After this success - he took on "The Master and Margarita", based on the cult novel by Mikhail Bulgakov (over 100 million copies sold worldwide, translated into 40 languages). The movie, starring August Diehl, Yulia Snigir, Yevgeniy Tsyganov and Claes Bang was shot in 2021. The film is set to be released in 2024.
Prior to movies, Michael directed commercials and music videos for over 10 years, winning numerous awards including Cannes Lions Young Director's Award, Golden Drum, Shots and others.
Michael spent his childhood in both the USA and Russia. While studying for a MA in Psychology at Moscow State University he started to work in the film industry, moving to London after graduation to pursue his passion.
