Nathan is a Ph.D. candidate in Harvard’s Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures. His research interests include mechanical investigations into literary narrative (in short, how fiction works) and the nexus of aesthetics and politics in 20th- and 21st-century Slavic literatures. Nathan earned a BA in Russian from Middlebury College in 2013 and an MFA in fiction writing from Columbia University in 2017. Previously, he researched and translated the early prose of Alexander Vampilov under the aegis of a Fulbright research scholarship. While at Harvard, Nathan has also pursued a course of study in German language and culture.
