Dr. Sergei Gretsky is the Academic Director, Foreign Policy Academy, Georgetown University and a Lecturer, Department of Politics, The Catholic University of America. In 2000-2014, he was the Chair (contract) of Central Asian Advanced Area Studies at the Foreign Service Institute, U.S. Department of State. He is the author of Russia’s Policy Toward Central Asia and of a number of book chapters and articles on economic development, political economy, Islam, domestic and foreign policy issues of Central Asian states. He is a member of the advisory board of Central Asia and the Caucasus Journal (Sweden). In 1994-97, he participated as an advisor at the U.N.-mediated intra-Tajik peace talks.
