Victor Martinovich, PhD, is a Belarusan writer, playwright, art historian and public intellectual. Martinovich is the author of 6 fiction novels and 7 theater plays, with Paranoia, Night, Mova and Revolution recognized internationally (In May 2024, Mova won a major Latvian prize for a best fiction book translated from foreign language). His novels and plays combine elements of social fiction, parable and realistic depiction of post-Soviet social processes. Plays based on Victor’s works have been staged in Hamburg, Munich, Vienna, Minsk, Innsbruck and St. Petersburg. 

Martinovich is an associate professor at the European Humanities University (Vilnius, Lithuania) where he teaches courses on the arts and humanities and philosophy of culture. As an art historian Martinovich is interested in Belarus-born painters of the l’École de Paris and Vitebsk avant-garde, which was the subject of his PhD thesis.
