Zurab Agladze, born on April 18, 1977, is a Georgian military expert, professor, and security specialist with extensive experience in defense, strategy, and military education. He currently serves as a Professor of Security studies in the master’s program at the Davit Agmashenebeli National Defense Academy.
Agladze’s academic background includes a Master's degree in Strategy and Security from the U.S. Army War College (2009-2010) and a diploma from the Command-Headquarters College in Kansas City, Leavenworth (2005-2006).
His military career spans over two decades, covering leadership roles in both national and international missions. Notably, he was the Senior Military Representative of Georgia in Iraq (Baghdad) in 2007. He previously served as the Commander of Georgia’s Ground Forces (2008-2009), as well as the Commander of the 5th Infantry Brigade (2007-2008). His early military service included commanding the 16th Mountain Rifle Battalion and serving in special operations units.
Beyond active service, Agladze has held academic and advisory roles. He was the Rector of the National Defense Academy (2013-2015) and an invited lecturer at various institutions, including the Ministry of Defense’s Command Staff College and GIPA. He is also the founder of the Strategic Analysis Center of Georgia.
