The Cold War in the Classroom: Using Digital Archives to Build Historical Thinking

This day-long, in-person workshop introduces history and social studies educators to practical approaches for teaching the Cold War through readily available open-access materials. The program will include a historical lecture on the Cold War, a review of Cold War-related materials available through open-access digital collections and the Fung Library, and presentations by the developers of A Visual Guide to the Cold War. Participants will explore the archive’s resources and learn strategies for incorporating primary sources into classroom instruction through short demonstrations, discussion, and collaborative activities. 

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

There is a $35 registration fee. Checks need to be made out to the President and Fellows of Harvard College and either mailed ahead of time to the mailing address below or brought to the workshop. If you pay in cash, please bring the exact amount.
