Agshin Umudov is a visiting scholar at the Davis Center. Prior to joining the center, he was a senior research fellow at the Institute for Caucasus Studies at the University of Jena in Germany and a visiting scholar at the Center for Eastern European Studies at the University of Zurich in Switzerland. From 2011 – 2012 and 2015 – 2016, he worked as a lecturer at the departments of International Relations and European Studies at Qafqaz University (now Baku Engineering University), where he offered courses on the theories of armed conflicts, nationalism in Eastern Europe, and foreign and security policies of the European Union. In 2020 he received his Dr. phil. degree in Political Science from the Otto–Suhr Institute for Political Sciences of Freie Universität Berlin. He gained an M.A. in Global Studies from Leipzig University and an M.Sc. in Peace and Conflict Research from Uppsala University. He also holds a B.A. in International Relations from Qafqaz University in Azerbaijan.
