Anna Gamburd is pursuing a double degree in history and government at Harvard College with a focus on legal history and post-Soviet studies, a secondary in European history, politics and societies, and a concurrent master's degree in regional studies (REECA). Anna has completed citations in Chinese and Russian, and is fluent in French, German, and Italian. At Harvard, she has led policy research projects commissioned by NATO and the Section for European Affairs at the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, has led a research team composed of students from Harvard and Fudan universities, and has organized a number of on-campus events featuring experts on European affairs. She has managed the organization of two online conferences on foreign relations for high school students from around the world and has taught a course on “History of Western Law and Legal Thought” to Chinese high school students in Beijing. During her tenure as president of ApiChorus, Harvard’s Jewish a cappella group, Anna organized the choir’s international tour in Europe. She has co-led the 2026 Harvard Jewish Heritage Program, a two-week learning trip bringing 20 undergraduates from Harvard to Jewish sites in Lithuania, Poland, and Hungary. Anna has experience working in Shanghai at a Sino-European investment advisory boutique, studying abroad in Latvia, Germany, Kazakhstan, and Taiwan, and conducting archival and interviews-based research at Harvard, in Moldova, and in Israel. Her research has focused on the constitutional foundations of Russian federalism, the legal underpinnings of German reunification, Baltic EU monetary integration, the adjudication of counterrevolutionary crime in the Soviet Union, and international arbitration. Anna intends to draw on her study of legal reform in the post-Soviet space to contribute to the development of a sustainable international legal system.
