Barbara is a Ph.D. student in the department of Slavic Languages & Literatures. She hails from Cherepovets, Russia, and arrived at Harvard in the fall of 2024. Her academic interests draw upon intellectual history, art history, and microhistory. She focuses on texts and visual materials related to the late Russian Empire. She is particularly interested in the development of psychology and psychiatry in this regard. One of her current projects investigates the dissemination and influence of physiognomic theories within artistic and intellectual circles of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
