Brett Donohoe is a visiting assistant professor of Russian at Amherst College, where he teaches courses on nineteenth-century Russian literature, queer literature, and individual authors. He is currently completing his manuscript, The Spectral Century: The Ghosts of Nineteenth-Century Russian Literature and Performance, which surveys the evolving appearance of the ghost in nineteenth-century Russian prose, poetry, ballet, and opera. He has previously published on Orthodox iconography, contemporary queer theology, and queer approaches to medieval hagiographies.
