Hana Stankova is a literary historian with a focus on nineteenth century travel writing about Central Asia. Her first book project analyzes travelogues by primarily Russian, European, and Central Asian writers, in the context of the Russian Empire's colonization of what came to be known as "Russian Turkestan." More broadly, her research aims to contextualize Russian colonial discourse about Central Asia and the Caucasus through its intertextual, international, and interimperial dimensions.
