Iskandar Abdullayev is the Deputy Director of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) Institute. He has over 25 years of experience in water management, water institutions, and environmental activities in Afghanistan and five Central Asian countries. Earlier, he worked as Executive Director of the Regional Environmental Center (CAREC) for Central Asia (2012-2019) and Regional advisor for Germany’s Berlin Initiative- Transboundary Water Management in Central Asia at the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) (2009-2013), Senior Researcher at ZEF Centre for Development Research University of Bonn (Germany) (2007-2009), and Regional researcher at International Water Management Institute (2001-2007). Dr. Abdullaev is the author of three books and over 30 articles, a member of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), and editorial boards of several peer-reviewed journals.
