Jemma began a Ph.D. in Slavic languages and literatures in the autumn of 2022, after graduating from Oxford University with an M.St. in Russian literature and culture. Jemma's research interests include queer contemporary cinema from the former Soviet Union, iconography, and the relationship between music and dance in ballet performance. Jemma is also co-founder of daikon* zine, a platform for the writing and art of Southeast and East Asian people of marginalized genders based in the global West.
