Lavinia earned her bachelor's degree in government from Harvard College in 2024, concurrently with master's in regional studies (Russia, Eastern Europe, and Central Asia) from the Davis Center's REECA Program. She is originally from Romania, where she grew up and developed her interest in security studies and Eastern European politics. At Harvard, Lavinia was the policy chair for a U.S. Cyber Command project researching trends in Russian ransomware and hacktivism. She was interested in emerging disruptive technologies and innovative startups and was an Undergraduate Technology Innovation Fellow at HBS. In the past, Lavinia was part of the founding team of the legal tech nonprofit ImmigrationHelp, where she helped low-income immigrants get free legal aid. Outside college, Lavinia has worked in the education field at Volo Studere, a nonprofit that helps first-generation students from Eastern Europe pursue higher education in the United States. She studied abroad several times and spent much of her time at Harvard exploring Senegal, Denmark, and China.
