Alisa is a doctoral candidate in anthropology at Princeton University. Her research focuses on the everyday civilian experiences of the war in Ukraine, through the study of materiality, affect, and improvised strategies of resilience. Alisa combines ethnographic research in Ukraine with journalistic reporting; her academic publications on the topic appear alongside stories in The New York Times, Time magazine, and The Guardian. Her work includes the #5Kfromthefrontline project, created together with photographer Anastasia Taylor-Lind. At the Davis Center, Alisa received her Harvard master's degree through the REECA program in 2020 and was later a graduate fellow.
