Dr. Magsud Mammadov is an independent scholar and former Visiting Scholar at the Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies at Harvard University, where his research focuses on non-traditional great power competition—specifically the strategic engagement of India and China in the South Caucasus. He also serves as a Research Associate at the Centre for Contemporary Central Asia and the Caucasus (CCCAC) at the University of London and as an AsiaGlobal Fellow at the Asia Global Institute, University of Hong Kong, where he explored China’s Belt and Road Initiative and green diplomacy, with a focus on Central Asia and the South Caucasus. His academic background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas State University, a Master’s degree in Energy Policy and International Political Economy from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. Alongside his academic work, Dr. Mammadov has over 15 years of professional experience across government, multilateral organizations, and the non-governmental sector, holding leadership roles in various international energy and development projects.
