Margaret Litvin is associate professor of Arabic and comparative literature at Boston University. Her research on the transregional entanglements of Arabic literature has produced a book on Arabic Shakespeares (Hamlet’s Arab Journey: Shakespeare’s Prince and Nasser’s Ghost, Princeton, 2011), a translation of the Moscow-set novel Ice by Egyptian novelist Sonallah Ibrahim (Seagull, 2019), and essays on Arab-Soviet cultural ties, Arabic study abroad literature, Arab/ ic theater for European audiences, and other topics. She is wrapping up a monograph on the literary legacies of Arab-Soviet ties titled Red Mecca: The Life and Afterlives of the Arab-Soviet Romance.
