K–14 educators are invited to join the Davis Center’s in-person workshop focused on inclusive literacy strategies for teaching the Holodomor, the man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine. This day-long workshop will provide practical approaches to help students retain key content, access and understand complex texts, and engage in manageable writing tasks—all centered on this important historical topic. Using diverse resources from the Davis Center and HURI (Ukrainian Research Institute, Harvard University), participants will learn how to create culturally responsive and accessible lessons that meet the needs of all learners in social studies classrooms. Ten PDPs (contact hours) will be awarded to all participants.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
There is a $35 registration fee. Checks need to be made out to the President and Fellows of Harvard College and either mailed ahead of time to the mailing address below or brought to the workshop.
