Using an Analytical Approach to Primary Sources in the Classroom

Workshop
Event Format
In person
Address
CGIS South Building, Room S153, 1730 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, MA

This workshop is the final in a series of three workshops planned for this academic year that will introduce participating educators to new sources on Eurasian history and new skills to explore those resources in the classroom.

We invite K-14 educators to this day-long workshop at the Davis Center, where we will use the OPCVL method to analyze primary sources. This session will focus on understanding the origin, purpose, content, and value of various textual and visual sources. By exploring how these different types of sources offer unique insights and have their own limitations, you will gain practical strategies for teaching students to critically engage with historical materials. The workshop will be framed in understanding everyday life in the Soviet Union, which will be supplemented by tapping into Davis Center's Soviet Poster collection and interview transcripts from the Harvard Project for the Soviet Social System.

Please REGISTER by April 20, to secure your spot.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

There is a $25 registration fee. Checks can be made out to the President and Fellows of Harvard College and mailed ahead of time to the address below or brought to the workshop. Ten PDPs will be awarded to all participants.

Please mail checks to:
