Armen Manuk-Khaloyan is a Ph.D. candidate in history at Georgetown University, researching nation and empire in the late Ottoman period. His dissertation, tentatively titled "When Empire Met Nation: Armenian Politics and Society in the Last Ottoman Century," explores how Ottoman Armenians reimagined identity and community during the empire’s final decades. At turns a political, social, and cultural history, it seeks to provide a new understanding of state and community relations in the empire’s final decades. Manuk-Khaloyan’s research interests extend also to the study of the military, war, human rights, and international law.
